About Washington Park Botanical Garden

The Washington Park Botanical Garden, owned & operated by the Springfield Park District, serves as a public education & recreation facility for the display of both hardy & non-hardy plant material. The Botanical Garden provides a place of peace & beauty - an oasis of nature - within an urban environment. It serves as a sanctuary where woody & herbaceous plants adapted to the Springfield area, as well as tropical & subtropical species in the Conservatory, produce a compelling display of nature’s beauty and variety for enjoyment, observation & study by the visiting public. In this manner, we seek to make our audience more aware of the importance of plants to our earth’s environment in this era of shrinking world resources.

Nice place to visit. There was a lot of bird crap all over the place. There was plenty so and see. There was adequate parking.

We loved this park! We parked near the conservatory and walked from there. Everything was beautiful and well maintained. Plenty of parking. Restrooms available. Paved paths. Lots of benches and picnic tables. Free!

Great for emotional strollingalone or duo. Easy paved trails of varied distances for all ages and physical dexterities. Carillon daily on hour and holiday specials. Rose garden and greenhouse. Annual replant hummingbird garden. Waterbird lagoon and backwoods trek area. Memorial plaques and stones allowed FOR SOME loved ones.

Absolutely beautiful place to just walk and take in all the beauty of the plants and flowers. Or just sit on a bench and take in the soft breeze through the shady trees while waiting for the bells to play their melodic sounds. It's so peaceful there

I love this park. They do a wonderful job maintaining the grounds. The botanical garden has wonderful displays and gorgeous flowers. If you go now, you will see tulips, daffodils and hyacinths in full bloom.
